Agriculture is the main occupation of the people of assam as 1/3 of its population rely on this for their chief source of income in this state.

Thats because all the other occupation is ruined by the LTTE and now very few industries are willing to set up their offices there. Its too risky as they find.

The reason may be right. Which industrialist can come if this is the situation. The police must be effective. Also because only few areas are coverd under the plateau region not much people could start industries. So agriculture could do well there.

The main thing produced here is Tea which is very much popular in all other parts of India and also some people have made fortune from this.

Tea is their main agricultural product. There are other industries but very few individuals venture into Assam and neighbouring areas to conduct business because it is easily targetted by the terrorist groups

Yes and this is the main reason that this state is not getting that much efforts from other side people. If this region government can do something abour terrorists they i am sure that it can get a lot of investment as it has the best natural resources available right now in India.
