Chennai : earlier known as Madras is the state of Tamil Nadu. It is the third largest industrial and commercial center of India. It is the major hub of hardware and electronic goods. It’s a metropolitan city and is progressing every day. It has established a name for itself in film industry also by Tamil films i.e. Kollywood. The major landmark of Chennai is Central Railway Terminus.

• Rivers of Chennai: The two major rivers of Chennai are The Adyar River and Cooum River. There are many lakes in Chennai. Cooum River is much polluted doe to the industrial wastes.

• Culture and tradition: Chennai is famous for its cultures and traditions. In arts mostly for its dances. Bharatnatyam is its most popular dance. It is very well appreciated. Various cultural programmes are held in this city. It is a city of Music lovers. The most traditional music is the Carnatic music. Tamil theatre is also very popular. There are few festivals which are very nicely celebrated here like pongal, Thai Poosam etc. Tamil New Year's day signifying the beginning of the Tamil Calendar usually falls on April 14 and is celebrated widely.

• Food: Chennai s food is also very popular. People believe in light diet over here which can be easily digested. Its specialties are idli, vada, dosa etc.

• Educational institutions: Chennai is not behind in any field. It has all good educational centers for students. The University of Madras is very famous and supports colleges related to various fields like law, arts, sciences etc. There are various famous and reputed colleges here like Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Women’s Christian college, Asian college of journalism, National Institute if fashion technology, Madras Medical College, Shri Ram Chandra Medical College and Research institute etc.

• Sports: Tennis and cricket are two very popular games in chennai. MAC, one of the oldest cricket stadiums is there in Chennai. There is a tennis stadium in Chennai too and is most popular as many major events and victories are being witnessed here. There is a horse racing course in Chennai too named as Giundy race Course, Gymkhana club golf course, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium for football and other sports, Basin Bridge for rowing races etc.

• Nissan: The automobile center Nissan is structured here. It is giving fabulous four wheel drive to Indian roads. It has ventures with Mahindra and Mahindra, Bajaj Autos etc.

• Site seeing in Chennai: Chennai has a very famous church called Christ the king church. It was commissioned my French clergyman and is worth seeing. There is a beautiful waterfall in chennai called Tada. It is a peaceful place where one can relax and enjoy beauty. There is a Birla Planetarium In chennai which gives us a sight on astromanical mysteries. There are two parks in chennai, one is Nageshwara Park and the other one is Natesan Park. Both are very well designed and favorite tourists spots. The Madhu rai Meenakshi temple is also very famous here.
