Default Chandigarh

Chandigarh, Sculpture of the European modernist architect Le Corbusier. The cleanest and most beautiful city in India, it's a charm in concrete.

The name Chandigarh roots from the name of Shri Chandika (Goddess Known as Kaali Maa)Mata Chandi devi's on the North-east of the city is visible from across the lake. It is considered to be an ancient site of major religious significance and is one of the 12 Peeth Sthans for Hindus. Buses take pilgrims between the city and the temple daily.

The words of Pandit Nehru ring so true when talking about the city remarked :
"Let this be a new town symbolic of the freedom of India , unfettered by the traditions of the past... an expression of the nation's faith in the future.

Recreation

The visitors can find many attractions throughout the year. Besides the architectural beauty that abounds in every corner of the city, the wide tree-lined avenues , rolling green scapes, clubs , shopping centres & numerous other places offer enchanting experience.

[Monuments and Gallaries:

The High Court & the Legislative Assembly , with the open Hand monument standind majestically amidst them; the University Campus ; Museum & Art Gallery ; Leisure Valley ; Rose Garden ; The famous Rock Garden etc. CITCO runs special sight-seeing tours for tourists.


Festivals and Exhibitions

Throughout the year a number of cultural events take place around the city , including food festivals , city carnival , lifestyle exhibitions, fashion shows , theatre etc. The Chrysanthemum show in December, Teej Festival in August & the Rose Festival in February every year are other popular not-to-be misses events.

Chandigarh is a gateway to many hill stations & tourist destinations. There are the beautifull hill stations of Kasauli, Chail & Shimla in Himachal Pradesh, just a few hours drive from the city.

The best climate in Chandigarh is from September to April Winters are cold & fairly heavy woollens are required. it's 35° C to 40° C in Summer.

Also known as City beautiful and is one of the best and the cleanest cities in India. One can also say that it has lowest crime rate as compared to other cities of the same population.

I would just like to correct one thing in your post and this is the present city population is over 10 lacs and is rapidly increasing due to major companies which have landed in its satellites cities.

It is not only the population of this city which is increasing, even the property prices are skyrocketing which is attracting more and more investor and people to this city.
