The karnataka government is in a process of renaming all its cities. the purpose is not known. Recently they have renamed Bangalore as Bengaluru. Also they have changed many cities like this.

All in all it is just a political Agenda to name cities on local names just to play with emotions of localites. Though it incolves very good expenses which are funded by tax payers money.
