ppl in tamil nadu are traditional agriculturalists. they are ardent about their language , culture , self respect etc. this was the place of the great kings chera chola and pandiya . there are so many temples here in tamil nadu preserving the ancient sculptures..

You are right. Places like Mahabalipuram speaks volumes of sculpture here. Also the temple cities like Madurai, kumbakonam have got lots of temples and many cities here so divine. They are very traditional and orthodox.

Tamil nadu has got its name because of the tamil speaking people. Previously it was a combination of andhra, karnataka and kerala. But when they were reconstructing the states, they were divided based upon the lingua. Else all south india was once called madras state.
